Joseph S. Rosen
Joe is a founder and managing member of Brown & Rosen, and runs the firm’s corporate and business department. Joe has an extensive transactional practice, which includes mergers and acquisitions, representation of start-up and later-stage companies, contracts, licensing, private financing (debt and equity), intellectual property and sports and entertainment law.
Representative transactions include:
- Representation of a New England based group in their bid to purchase the Boston Red Sox;
- Representation of companies in the technology, software and education industries in connection with the sales of their companies and purchases of other companies;
- Representation of a Boston based group in connection with their acquisition, operation and sale of a professional baseball team;
- Representation of a private tennis and fitness club, a restaurant chain and an online retailer in connection with private financings of their businesses;
- Representation of an iconic hip-hop band in a multi-million dollar merchandising and licensing deal;
- Representation of a major software developer and licensor in connection with its licensing agreements;
- Representation of a publicly traded financial services company, including SEC compliance; and
- Representation of an investment adviser, including partnership review and analysis, and investment company compliance.
Prior to joining Brown & Rosen in 2005, Joe served as a senior associate in the corporate department of Goulston & Storrs in Boston for five years. Prior to his tenure at Goulston, Joe was an associate in the corporate department of Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault in Boston for a year and a half.
Joe is also a partner in ICON Sports, where he represents professional baseball players. In addition, Joe is an adjunct professor at Boston College Law School, having taught sports and entertainment law.
Joe received a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University in 1995 and a J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1998. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar.
Christopher L. Brown
Chris is a founder and managing member of Brown & Rosen and runs the firm’s litigation and entertainment departments. Chris has represented corporate clients such as DuPont, UPS, Pangea Brands and others in litigation around the country. As the head of the firm’s entertainment group, Chris has represented clients such as Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond, Bobby Brown, New Edition, RUN DMC Brand LLC, Cassie Ventura, Actress Claudia Jordan (The Real Housewives of Atlanta/Fox Soul), Le’Andria Johnson, Al B. Sure!, Day 26 (Diddy: Making the Band), The Bobbi Kristina Serenity House, Hi-5, Crystal Aikin, Actor Brian White (Stomp The Yard), Cherie Johnson (Family Matters/Punky Brewster), Shondrella Avery (Napoleon Dynamite), In The Black Network LLC, Brian Courtney Wilson, Television Executive Holly Carter (Preachers of LA), Latin Entertainment (Don Omar/Cuban Link), Trin:i:Tee 5-7 and others.
Prior to joining Brown & Rosen in 2005, Chris served as Chairman of the Sports and Entertainment Group at Murtha Cullina LLP in Boston. Prior to joining Murtha Cullina in 1999, Mr. Brown was a litigation associate at the New York City law firm of Fisher, Fisher & Berger, P.C.
Chris is also a partner in ICON Sports, where he represents professional baseball players. In addition, Chris is an adjunct professor at Boston College Law School, having taught sports and entertainment law.
Chris received a B.A. in Political Science from Colgate University in 1995 and a J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1998. Chris is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar, New York Bar, United States District Court, Massachusetts, and United States District Court, Southern District and Eastern District of New York.
